Details

Aim
- characterize the pore space in micritic carbonates with the epoxy pore casts
Scope
- Impregnate carbonate rock samples with fluorescent epoxy
- Carefully fill the heterogeneous pore space avoiding artifacts
- Produce 3D models of the pore casts using confocal microscopy (CLSM)
Significance
- Increase the investigation depth of confocal imaging 20-fold, to 200 mikro-meter
- Image pores at multiple scales through cross-correlation between SEM and CLSM
